What are Jefferson County Arrest Records?

Jefferson County arrest records are documents that show total arrests by law enforcement in the county for a particular year. The reports include information such as the sex, age, and race of persons arrested, type of offense, and clearance rates. The Arkansas Department of Public Safety Arkansas Crime Information Center publishes this information for public consumption on its Uniform Crime Reporting website to view by year. In 2018, there were 409 arrests in the county; 305 of which were adult arrests and 104, juvenile.

Crime Statistics

The Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) maintains a website where members of the public can view crime statistics for Jefferson County. This information is compiled annually from law enforcement reports. In 2018, the county recorded 18 murders, 39 rapes, 582 aggravated assaults, 68 arsons, 861 burglaries, 290 motor vehicle thefts. 103 robberies, and 1722 thefts.

Analyzing a five-year trend with the 2014 report, theft was the highest occurring major crime, and murder was the least. Crimes that went down include murder (-5.88%), rape (-11.36%), robbery (-27.46%), theft (-10.91%), and burglary (-28.13%). Motor vehicle theft (34.26%), arson (25.92%), and aggravated assault (39.90%) crimes went up in the county.

Jefferson County Criminal Records

The Arkansas State Police maintains the central repository of criminal history information for all counties in the State. Interested parties may request their criminal records or someone else’s. However, if the record being requested is a closed record, state laws require the requester, individual or organization, to be qualified to do so.

How Do I Get Jefferson County Criminal Records?

To obtain closed Jefferson County criminal records, use the Online Criminal Background Check System provided by the Arkansas State Police or send the request by mail. Mail requests should be sent in with a completed Arkansas Background Check Request Form to the address below:

It cost $25 per request. This fee is payable by check or money order to the Arkansas State Police. Call the bureau on (501) 618-8500 for inquiries. Individuals seeking fingerprint-based checks must attach a fingerprint card to the request form.

Online users are required to have an account or open one before they can use the service. It costs $22 for name-based checks but volunteers are charged $11.00. Fingerprint-based checks cost $14.25, $12.25 for volunteers.

Anyone may access open criminal history records using the Criminal History Search platform. It costs $24 to search and download a record. This fee is non-refundable and payable only by credit or debit card. Requesters must provide the first and last name, date of birth, and sex of the subject and the search must not be for a juvenile record. The Bureau does not provide fingerprint-based checks through this service.

How to Find Jefferson County Sex Offender Information

At the county level, residents may obtain sex offender information on the Sex Offender Website run by the Sheriff’s Office. It is possible to view level 1, 2, 3, 4, and unassessed sex offenders on a map or by their names. At the state level, find Jefferson County sex offender information using the ACIC’s Sex Offender Registry. Search for Level 2, 3, and 4 sex offenders in the county by first and last name, street name, city, or zip code. Alternatively, interested parties may subscribe to receive email or phone notifications when sex offenders move close by. Residents of the county may also download the sex offender registry.

How Do I Visit an Inmate in Jefferson County Jail?

Jefferson County has an adult and juvenile detention center. Both jails are run by the Sheriff’s Office and are located at 410 East 2nd Avenue, Pine Bluff, AR 71601. The Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center can hold 315 inmates while the Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center holds 87 inmates.

Friends and family are provided two ways to visit an inmate in the adult detention center. Either visit the jail to use its HomeWav service or use a home computer, smartphone, or tablet. Interested parties may visit from Monday to Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 pm.

To visit a juvenile, go to the jail facility on Saturday or Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each inmate has a 20 minute limit per visitation.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office provides the Detention Center Inmate Roster. Interested parties may search by name and view the profiles of current and released inmates. Information on a profile includes the inmate’s name, sex, jail address, booking date, and charge.

The Jefferson County Health Unit of the ADH issues death records from 1914 to date to eligible individuals. Requesters must provide a copy of government-issued ID (Spanish) at the time of their request. Death records cost $10 for first copies and $8 for additional copies. The ADH also provides a Death Certificate Search and Order Service where interested parties may search and order death certificates from 1935 to 1961. Search for a certificate by the deceased’s first and last name and date of death. Individuals may also widen search parameters by entering the county of death, date of birth, and state of birth of the deceased.

In addition to government agencies, county public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state.
