It was formed in 1828.
It was named for Ambrose Sevier, U.S. Senator from Arkansas. He was an attorney, politician, and planter from Arkansas.

Nonetheless, records in Sevier County do come at a cost. Sevier County birth records cost $12 per first copy. Death records in Sevier County cost $10 for the first copy. First copies of marriage records cost $10 in Sevier County.
NOTE - If requesters want to obtain records face-to-face, they must follow various rules in Sevier County. Requesters must visit between 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. CST from Monday to Friday to get records in-person in Sevier County. To get hold of records in Sevier County, photo identification is needed.
