Criminal Statistics

Washington county crime statistics are compiled and maintained by the Arkansas Crime Information Center. According to its 2018 report, a record total of 21,772 crimes were reported across various cities. Crimes against persons recorded an increase from 3,272 incidents in 2017 to 4999 in 2018, however, property crimes accounted for nearly 60% of the total crimes committed with more than 12,000 reported incidents. Independently, drug and narcotic violations proved to be popular with 4,399 total reported crimes, while destruction of property and simple assault followed closely behind with 2,425 and 2,306 incidents respectively. Overall, the 2018 data depicts an increase in property crime for the county.

Criminal Records

The Arkansas State Police Department serves as the central repository of state-wide criminal history records. It also processes public requests for criminal records or background checks on persons resident in the state. Similarly, the Washington County Sheriff's Office is the primary generator and custodian of all criminal history information of Washington county residents. As per state laws, all criminal history information falls under the umbrella of public record-unless exempted by law.

How to Get Criminal Records and Arrest Records

Requests for county-based criminal history records and background checks are processed by the Records Department of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Requestors will be provided with the subject's conviction, arrest and misdemeanor history within unincorporated areas of the county. How to Find The Sex Offender Registry and Other Sex Offender Information

The Washington County Sex Offenders Register is a sheriff-managed online roster that houses all information regarding registered sex offenders in unincorporated areas of the county and can be accessed by all interested members of the public. Washington County residents may view information of sex offenders resident within their vicinity by searching offenders by name or address and/or register for the Sheriff's Email Alert System, which notifies individuals of nearby offenders.

How to Find Inmate and Jail Information

Detention and inmate information of Washington County is managed by the Detention Division of the Sheriff's Office. Detainee information can be viewed on the Sheriff's detailed inmate roster, while details of recently booked inmates are maintained on the detention intake report.
