It was formed in 1825.

It was named for the War of 1812 General and Arkansas Territorial Governor George Izard.

Izard County records their criminal activity in the form of criminal records. These records cover murders, rapes, burglaries, arson, motor vehicle theft, assaults, and crimes of a sexual nature. However, Izard County charges a fee per record copied. First copies of birth records cost $12 in Izard County. Death certificates in Izard County cost $10. Marriage records in Izard County cost $10.

NOTE - Izard County has a variety of rules that must be followed when it comes to obtaining records. The office is only open between 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p. m. CST from Monday to Friday. Photo ID is needed to attain records in Izard County. This could consist of a driver’s license or state ID. In Izard County, requesters must also put their public record requests in writing.
